NextGen Newbie: Nicole Screnci

July 30, 2015

Let’s all give a big NextGen welcome to Nicole Screnci who’s been gracious enough to answer all our prying questions. She brings a lot of wisdom with her. She shared one of the best gotcha questions we’ve heard. It’s something to ponder: How would you drain the ocean? Our answer: We would not drain the ocean.

Name something that makes your job feel rewarding.
I find it extremely rewarding when candidates tell me that we are different from any Staffing Agency they have ever worked with. They feel like a person and not a number. It’s satisfying to know that the extra steps we take are recognized and appreciated.

What’s a superpower you’ve always wanted (fly, invisibility, superhuman strength, talk with animals) and how would you use this power?
I would definitely like to breathe under water. I learned how to swim two years ago as an adult and practice daily to become more and more comfortable in the water. I wouldn’t have to worry about holding my breath anymore.

What’s the last album you listened to from start to finish?
Death Cab for Cutie “Transatlanticism”

Where do you live?
Media, Pennsylvania (20 minutes outside the city).

What’s your device of choice?
iPhone, how did I live without it?

What’s the strangest question you’ve heard in an interview that you’ve set up?
“How would you drain the ocean?”

What’s your favorite restaurant?
Marra’s in South Philly

What’s one piece of advice you give to candidates about to interview?
Turn off your cell phone

What’s one thing people would never know about you?
I once went through a “goth” phase in college. Luckily there was no such thing as cell phones cameras back then so there aren’t many photos of me rocking the safety pins and blue/black hair.

Any claims to fame? Maybe you won a Chubby Bunny contest or won a go-kart in a raffle?
I wrote a Novella called Birds Sitting on Telephone Wires.
