Consultant Spotlight Award Winner Q&A: Angela

Congratulations to our consultant Spotlight Award winner, Angela! She has worked as a Backhaul Engineer with NextGen | GTA: A Kelly Telecom Company since June 2021. Angela exemplifies our core values and constantly displays leadership in every task she is given.

Angela’s manager commented, “I’d like to commend Angela for her exemplary leadership and accountability in managing our external vendor. She has dedicated numerous hours to validation, communication, and ensuring the technical processes are handled efficiently. Angela was pivotal in establishing the procedure and has taken full responsibility to ensure everything is prepared for the upcoming system shutdown.”

We got in touch with Angela to ask her about her experience working with us and to learn more about her. Here is what she had to say:

Q: What do you like most about your career as an Engineer?

A: My engineering career has given me great opportunities and introduced me to amazing people.

Q: Who inspires you?

A: My son inspires me to be kind and work smart.

Q: What do you like best about your current project?

A: My current project is nearing the end, and I really like that we’ve been able to meet our goals no matter the volumes or obstacles in our way. It’s a great feeling to finish on a high note.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about you!

A: My grandfather worked for Atari (Pong, Pac-Mac, etc.) in the 80s and was one of the first people we knew to have a home computer. He would bring simple games home on 5 1/4” floppy disks, so I’ve been playing on computers since I could reach the keyboard.

Q: What advice would you give to someone wanting to enter the telecom field?

A: Telecom is layered learning, so ensure you understand the fundamentals, or you will always feel a bit lost. Take it upon yourself to continue learning. The industry keeps evolving and so should your understanding.

Q: What is one thing industry related or not that you have learned in the last month?

A: I recently learned about the Cave of Crystals in Naica, Mexico. It is full of giant gypsum crystals growing for millions of years. The pictures remind me of Superman’s Fortress of Solitude.

Congratulations, Angela, on your hard work paying off! We appreciate our working relationship and look forward to continuing to watch your career progress.
